People in Russia have been deeply affected by the Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral blaze. The Russian authorities immediately offered the French help in restoring the architectural masterpiece, and soon Moscow will make a call for designers.
Architects have already suggested some interesting ideas. Here’s what Alexander Nerovnya posted on Instagram – he’s dreamt up a modern design with a glass roof. What do you think?
Alexander Nerovnya wrote: "We know the Cathedral was built from the 12th to the 14th centuries. But we also know that some changes to the design were made in the 13th, 14th, 18th, and 19th centuries. Things change. Notre Dame will never be the same, no matter how well it's repaired. So why don't we use all our knowledge and architectural achievement to make it better? When people come to see the Cathedral they will feel a powerful connection to the history seeing the ancient and the morden parts together. Well, my view might not be the best one but tastes differ."
"When the architectural competition for the reconstruction of Notre Dame takes place, the roof will be glass. The interior, as it should be in the Gothic Cathedral will be dark. The stained glass Windows weren't damaged. (..) Paris is waiting for a new diamond, designed to emphasize the millennial beauty."
